Canada over the years has brought about some great superstars of music, like Shania Twain and Justin Bieber. Now we have another great artist coming from Canada, and he has the ability to be the greatest yet. Lyric Dubee will be, "Canada"s Newest Superstar"! It is literally amazing how he has taken to music in such a short time. Lyric is twelve years old, but his great artistry has come about in just three short years. He is a singer/songwriter/guitarist and what he can do is just brilliant! One of the songs he wrote called, "Hello Beautiful" really shows off his skills and creativity in this song and video. Hello Beautiful came from a band he opened for when he was ten, that was the name of the band, and he loved that saying, "Hello Beautiful". He then just envisioned a beautiful person and sat down and wrote the song about that. This was one of the first songs that he wrote and his first professional video, and the only song that he uses a E-bow with his guitar. The music and the lyrics in this song is, genius! The energy is incredible, the melody and the words sticks with you day after day. It is one of those songs that you can't get out of your head, and don't want to. When he delivers this song he never lets up anywhere during the performance, and the ending is pure intensity and fire. When Lyric got ready to film the video, he got a nice surprise about how loyal his fans really are. At the end of the video there is a room full of screaming fans. He had put on his Facebook page that he was looking for some extras for the video, and if anyone wanted they could come out. Lyric expected maybe a few, but to his surprise there was so many it fill the whole room. "Hello Beautiful" also won him The Best Young Songwriter Award at the Barrie New Music Festival in 2011. There is something greater than fate at work for his parents to name him Lyric, there could never had been a more fitting name than that.
Lyric is an excellent songwriter. He has a great natural talent and imagination for writing and has written around 25 songs so far and constantly writing more. He reads a lot of books and some of his ideas comes from them. His first album that he recorded called, "Broken Dreams" has some great songs that really shows off how good of an imagination he has. There is a couple of songs on there that he likes a lot, "Vamp" and "Your Friends". The idea behind "Vamp" was written about the "Twilight" series. "Your Friends" is one he likes because he gets to do a great extended guitar solo. One of the songs off his album, "You Instead" was used by the OPP for their texting and driving campaign in high schools. He wrote the song about the dangers of texting and driving. He was also on the news for this. His album has also made it to TV. The album was used on a episode of the TV series, "New Slang" a show about skateboarding. Not many young artists coming up can say that they were on TV to promote their CD but, Lyric can. His CD release party was in May 2011 and he played 2 songs on live TV. Be sure and get your copy of this great album and see for yourself what all the fuss is about, Broken Dreams.
It is hard to believe that all the great music he brings for the world to hear, all started when he was nine years old. Lyric made his first performance at a school talent show and that landed him a spot in the Barrie New Music Festival to perform on stage. One of his favorite performances was this year playing at the NXNE Festival in Toronto at the Harbor Front, this was his first time playing his original songs with a full band. With the band his songs had a more powerful sound, he loved it.
Lyric is a fantastic artist and musician, and loves all styles of music, and loves jazz and blues a lot. His music is labelled, "Revolution Rock". It does not matter what the style, Lyric can play anything on guitar and be perfect, not missing a note. One great example of what he can do on guitar is his cover of, "I'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta James. In this cover his true talents come to life, and it is sensational. The audience after his performance went crazy, "they loved it"! You can believe this is not the only performance that the audience went crazy over, and with his talent the crowds are going to grow bigger and bigger. Major label or not, he has all the potential to become a great superstar. To be a superstar it takes music that the fans love to hear, and fans that can't wait to hear more. This is what you get with Lyric, and the number of bookings he gets proves it. He now stays booked almost continuously, this is the beginnings of a superstar on the rise. If he ever makes to National TV to perform, his music will skyrocket throughout Canada and the U.S. Lyric Dubee, don't miss him!
