Gayatri is a 12 year old young lady born in Madras, India, and raised in London, United Kingdom, from age 2.  There was always something about music which attracted young Gayatri, so she naturally began to gravitate towards music at the early age of 5 or 6 years old.  At age 7 onwards Gayatri started singing on her own, and formally began getting lessons starting at age 8 ½ years with her main focus concentrating on training in Classical Piano and Singing.  Gayatri does also enjoy singing Pop and R&B as an interest on the side without any lessons in that genre.

Playing piano has become a part of Gayatri’s everyday life and she’s been studying piano ever since 2009, with 2 hours of lessons every week and more than 5 hours of practice every day.  This gifted young lady has taken it upon herself to set a personal goal of reaching 10,000 hours of study prior to turning age 15.  Gayatri is currently rated above advanced level but understands she still has a long ways to go in order to be considered a great pianist.

Interestingly enough, Gayatri is also a martial artist holding a black belt in Taekwondo.  On top of that, she’s also been involved as a well advanced Street Dancer and Gymnast, having performed on many stages; including the UK’s biggest dance movement named “MoveIT” and “Keep It Moving” dance competitions, but has since abandoned those interest in order to focus entirely on her music.

Gayatri has had the opportunity to regularly appear on television at ages 9 and 10 on BBC One, Channel 4 and Nickelodeon TV.  She has also been on Channel 4, 5 O’clock show and in a Disney Fashion Show in association with Gary Lloyd Studio.  In addition, her first opportunity to perform in a big venue came in May of 2010 when Gayatri sang covers of “Halo” by Beyonce and “Hope” by Idina Menzel at St. Georges Cathedral, London.

Most recently, in 2012, Gayatri was awarded admission to the internationally famous Purcell School for Young Musicians in Hertfordshire, the oldest music school in the United Kingdom where every student is prodigiously talented.  Gayatri is eligible for means tested scholarship funded by Music and Dance Scholarship program from the Department of Education, UK, for 7 years, as long as she passes the Year 9 and Year 11 Reaudition Schemes.  The school teaches regular academic subjects as well, and has a lot of music lessons and three hours of individual instrumental lessons.  In addition, in classical music, Gayatri has been recognized by the Associated Board Royal Academy of Music (ABRSM) Grade 8 certification, but her current repertoire is above that standard.

Gayatri’s top goal at this stage is to become an accomplished pianist and based on that foundation she plans to build her career as a musician and singer.  Some exciting things coming up include a lunch time concert series in churches around London, and there’s also a digital EP release of various covers to be released before the end of this year and a self written song by Gayatri.
