Shelby Crews is a country and gospel award winning artist from Florida. It doesn’t take, but a few notes from Shelby to realize how good she is.  At only twelve years old, she does amazingly well when on stage, her presentation of a song is one of the best, she captures you and keeps you glued to her with every word she sings.

Shelby has been singing for a good while, starting at age two. She completed her first song with backing tracks at four, but her first performance came at three years old at her church singing “Jesus Loves Me” while her mom held the mic. Then at the whopping age of four she came in second at the North East Florida talent show singing Billy Gilman`s “One Voice”.

Last summer she began taking vocal lessons from the great Deborah McDuffie Doby. Deborah has composed and produced for Luther Vandross, Gladys Knight, Janet Jackson, plus many more. She ran into Deborah at a talent competition at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival. Shelby was also invited to join the Jacksonville Mass Choir, and she has been performing with them ever since. At seven she sang “Broken Wing” at the Ham Jam competition, and won runner up. The winner of this competition got to open for Craig Morgan, but the winner was unable to go so Shelby got to go instead. She said. it was very exciting. In August 2010 she sang with the Jacksonville Mass Choir, and got to sing her first solo with them. She sang Etta James “At Last”. She really liked this because it was a different genre than what she was use to singing. Her largest performance was here recent singing the National Anthem for 9000 people at the Jacksonville Sharks arena football game.

Shelby Crews at stars2come In 2009 Shelby won the state title of New Gospel Vocalist Of The Year, and then competed on the national level.   This is part of NACMAI which is held at the Country Tonight Theater in Pigeon Forge Tennessee, here she won Most Promising Vocalist Of The Year 2010 and the highest honor New Gospel Entertainer Of The Year 2010. In April 2010 she was in another competition at the Clay County Youth Talent Show, she competed against 16 other people, and won. From this win she got to meet country music singer, and songwriter Lee Brice. Also from this win Shelby was the opening act for country music singer and Dancing with the Stars, Julianne Hough. This is just a part of her great achievements, and you can be sure there will be many more to come.

Shelby is another great young artist who loves to help others with her music. Last summer she hosted a concert for Dreams Come True, they raised money to send a sick child and her family to Disney World. She put on another concert at the Florida State Community College and people brought cans of food for admission, and they raised 71 cans of food for the local food bank. This is what she loves about singing, getting to meet so many wonderful people and help others who need a hand. She says, she plans to engage in many life changing events that will impact other people`s lives as well as her own. She is just the passenger and God will always be in control of the wheel. Shelby will always have a bright future she has a great outlook on life. She says, if her singing career doesn’t happen that she has her academics to fall back on, and perhaps be a teacher or a career in the music industry. She wants to make a mark on the world and leave foot steps behind that the younger generations would want to follow.

Shelby is a great girl with her head in the right place, and the attitude she has, there will be many people who will want to follow in her foot steps and be just like her.
